Gymnastics Drops Road Dual To UW-Stout

Menomonie, Wis. – The Gustavus Adolphus gymnastics team suffered a 181.375-170.500 loss to UW-Stout on Friday night at the Johnson Fieldhouse.

Gustavus posted individual event scores of 44.200 on the vault, 41.300 on the uneven parallel bars, 41.275 on the balance beam, and 43.725 on the floor exercise.  The team’s score on the bars was its second best of the season.

UW-Stout scored a 46.350 on the vault, 45.400 on the bars, 44.275 on the beam, and 45.350 on the floor.

Senior Jamie Ries (Monticello, Minn.) was the Black and Gold’s top performer of the meet, posting three top five finishes and turning in her best all-around score of the season.  Ries’s top finish of the night came on the balance beam where she took fourth with a score of 8.750.  She also finished fifth on the vault (9.075), fifth on the bars (9.000), and sixth on the floor (8.775) to end up with an all-around total of 35.600.  Her mark on the vault matched her season-best set on Jan. 25 against UW-Oshkosh.

Lauren Kershner (Fy., Marine, Ill.) also registered a top five finish by placing fourth alongside Ries on the beam with an 8.750.  Kershner scored a 34.850 in the all-around after scoring an 8.850 on the vault (8th), 8.600 on the bars (7th), and 8.650 on the floor (7th).

Individual event winners included UW-Stout’s Kaylee Jondahl on the vault (9.450), bars (9.200), and floor (9.625), Katherine Prouty on the bars (9.200), and Randi Schorzman on the beam (9.350).

The Gustavus gymnastics team will be back on the mats Sunday, Feb. 23 when it travels to Minneapolis to compete in the Best of Minnesota Invite hosted at the University of Minnesota.
