Men’s Basketball Hosts Saint John’s In Key MIAC Match Up Monday Posted on February 3rd, 2014 by

St. Peter, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s basketball team is set to host Saint John’s University on Monday, Feb. 3rd, at Gus Young Court.  The Gusties enter the contest with a record of 12-7 overall and 9-5 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, while the Johnnies come in with a record of 9-9 overall and 7-6 in league play.  Monday’s opening tip is set for 7:30 p.m.

Gustavus is coming off a pair of losses, most recently a 77-72 loss to St. Olaf on Saturday afternoon in St. Peter.  After the Oles jumped out to an 18-4 lead in the opening five minutes, the Gusties came back to take the lead in the second half, but could not complete the comeback in the five-point loss.  Meanwhile, Saint John’s had won four straight before falling to Bethel by the final score of 66-51 on Saturday afternoon in Arden Hills.  The Johnnies could not hold on to a five-point halftime lead, as the Royals outscored the Johnnie men 43-23 in the second half of the game.
