Women’s Hockey Moves Up To No. 6 In Latest USCHO.com Poll Posted on November 19th, 2013 by

St. Peter, Minn. – After dropping four spots to No. 7 last week, the Gustavus women’s hockey team gained one back on Monday when it moved back up to No. 6 in the latest USCHO.com Division III Women’s Hockey Poll.  The Gusties jumped UW-River Falls – who dropped out of the top 10 – after a sweep over Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) foe Concordia College last weekend.  The Gusties defeated the Cobbers 4-1 on Friday night before picking up a 2-0 shut out on Saturday afternoon in Moorhead.

Remaining atop the poll for the third straight week was Plattsburgh State (6-0-0), while Middlebury (2-0-0) and Norwich (5-1-0) followed in second and third, respectively.  Elmira (4-1-1) ranks fourth and UW-Superior (4-0-2) ranks fifth to round out the five teams in front of Gustavus in the rankings.

The Gusties will be back in action on Friday night in St. Paul when they take on Hamline in their second MIAC series of the season.  Friday night’s series opener is set for a 7:00 p.m., start time.  Following Friday night’s game, the two teams will square off once again on Saturday afternoon.  That game is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m., opening face off at Don Roberts Ice Rink.
