Ham Lake, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus men’s golf team is in fourth place with a team-total 313 (+25) after the opening round of the Augsburg Fall Invitational held Saturday at Majestic Oaks Golf Course.  The University of Manitoba leads the field with a 292 (+4), Saint John’s University sits in second with a 308 (+20), and Concordia College is in third with a 311 (+23).

Leading Gustavus’s first team was Andrew Brandt (So., Medina, Minn.) and Matt Jensen (Sr., Edina, Minn.).  Both Brandt and Jensen shot a five-over-par 77 and sit tied for 15th place overall.  Tyler McMorrow also cracked the top 20 and sits in a tie for 19th after shooting a 78 (+6).

The top Gustavus finisher of the day was Sam Peterson (So., Benson, Minn.) who shot a three-over 75 to end up in a tie for sixth place.  Jon Husu (Sr., Lino Lakes, Minn.), who also played on Gustavus’s second to alongside Peterson, shot a 77 (+5) and sits in a tie for 15th with Brandt and Jensen.

Brandon Jones of Augsburg and Josh Wytinck of Manitoba lead the way with one-under 71s.  Manitoba’s Scott Mazur rounds out the top three in third with a 73 (+1).

The Augsburg invitational will come to a close on Sunday, Sept. 8.  The final day will begin with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m.
