St. Peter, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus softball team will kick off its MIAC schedule with a doubleheader against St. Olaf College at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday afternoon at Hollingsworth Field.  In what is the debut conference doubleheader for both squads, Gustavus enters the contests at 3-8 overall, while St. Olaf comes in at 5-7.

Thursday’s doubleheader will be just the second played on the field turf of Hollingsworth Field.  The Gusties last played inside the Gustavus Football Stadium on April 2, 2011 in a twin bill against UW-La Crosse. The Gusties won game one 4-2 in nine innings yet suffered a 5-3 loss in game two.

The Gusties will look to snap a three-game losing-streak in what will be their second doubleheader of the season on Minnesota soil.  Gustavus was most recently in action last weekend at the Central-Simpson Classic held in Indianola and Oskaloosa, Iowa.  The Gusties fell to UW-Eau Claire (7-4) and Simpson (3-2) on Friday before losing to St. Scholastica (4-2) in its lone contest on Saturday.

The St. Olaf softball team returns to Minnesota after playing 10 games between March 23-28 in Clermont, Florida.  The Oles went 5-5 over their trip, finishing with a pair of wins over Union College (3-0) and Houghton College (10-4) on the final day.

Live stats for Thursday’s games will be provided by the Gustavus Sports Information Department.
