The Gustie gymnasts will head to La Crosse, Wis. to take part in the Gershon/McLellan Invite on Friday night.
St. Peter, Minn. – The Gustavus gymnastics team is set to take part in the Gershon/McLellan Invitational on Friday, Feb. 1 at 6:00 p.m. The Gusties will travel to La Crosse, Wis. for the five-team meet being held in the Mitchell Hall. Participating in Friday night’s invite will be host UW-La Crosse, UW-Eau Claire, UW-Stout, Winona State, and Gustavus. This meet is a late addition to the schedule.
The Gustavus gymnastics team is coming off its best performance of the season in a third place finish at the John Zuerlein Invitational held last weekend in Menomonie, Wis. Gustavus recorded a season-high 173.900, while senior Sam Opsahl (Forest Lake, Minn.) recorded the squad’s first win of the year by taking the balance beam competition with a 9.450 performance. Opsahl was also bestowed Specialist-of-the-Week honors later in the week by the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
