The Gustavus Adolphus indoor women’s track and field team is set to kick off the 2013 season at the St. Olaf Invite held in the Tostrud Center Fieldhouse this Friday. The women will compete against UW-River Falls and St. Olaf. After coming up short with a seventh place finish at the 2012 MIAC Indoor Championships, the Gusties are looking for an improved showing through the regular season leading up to the 2013 MIAC Championships.
Returning to the squad is top field competitor Allyson Voss (Sr., Wausau, Wis.). Voss took home an all-conference award with her first place finish in the pole vault after clearing a height of 11-0.75. Senior captain Lauren Rothschiller (Sr., Chaska, Minn.) is also returning for her final indoor season and will look for a top finish in the triple jump after placing tenth at the conference meet last season.
Distance runners Rebecca Hare (So., Albany, Minn.), Elizabeth Hauer (Sr., Little Falls, Minn.) and Caitlyn Fermoyle (So., Mendota Heights, Minn.) will lead the runners this season. All three women are coming off of appearances in the NCAA Cross Country Championships and will bring their distance skills to the team.
Other top returners include sprinter Haley Kemper (So., Prior Lake, Minn.), mid-distance runner Sara Lundgren (So., Mankato, Minn.), and long and triple jumper Leah Brossoit (Jr., Rochester, Minn.).
