Men’s Nordic Skiing Captures Top Four Spots In St. Olaf Dual Posted on December 1st, 2012 by

Josh Blankenship finished first to lead the way for the Gusties on Saturday morning.

Maple Grove, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s nordic skiing team captured the top four spots in a time trial with St. Olaf College on Saturday morning.  Saturday’s time trial was held at Elm Creek with a course that covered 7.5 km.

Josh Blankenship led the way for the Gusties.  Blankenship finished in front of everyone in a time of 18:49.5.  Following Blankenship was Zach Wagner in second with a time of 19:37.8.  In third was Tyler Gustafson who crossed the finish line in 19:47.5, and rounding out the top four for the Gusties was Tony Squillace just one second after Gustafson in a time of 19:48.9.

The Gusties also saw three more skiers land inside the top 10.  Gabe Hanson finished in seventh with a time of 20:02.2 while Scott Williams crossed the line five seconds later in 20:07.1 for eighth place.  Rounding out the top 10 was Marcus Speca in 10th place with a final time of 21:07.7

Gustavus will be back in action next weekend.  The squad will split and head to either Lake Elmo, Minn., for the Test Your Lungs Preseason Meet or Ironwood, Mich., for the Wolverine Challenge.
