Following a weekend without competition, the Gustavus men’s and women’s cross country teams will travel to Minnetrista tonight to compete in the Crown College Invitational. The women’s race is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. with the men’s race starting after at 4:45 p.m.
The Gustie women are coming off a sixth place finish at the St. Olaf Invitational on Sept. 15th with 165 total points. Gustavus finished 18 points behind fifth place St. Thomas (147), and 110 points behind champion St. Olaf (55).
Caitlin Fermoyle (So., Mendota Heights, Minn.) led the Gusties once again at St. Olaf. The sophomore recorded a 14th place finish in a time of 23:23.2. It was her third-straight top 15 finish on the season. Rounding out the top four finishers for the Gusties was Rebecca Hare (Jr., Albany, Minn.) in 24th, Kate Eggers (Sr., Montevideo , Minn.) in 36th, and Beth Hauer (Sr., Little Falls, Minn.) in 39th.
The Gustavus men will look to improve on a sixth place finish at the St. Olaf Invitational. The Gusties totaled 193 points, eight points behind fifth place finisher Saint Mary’s (185), and 163 points behind the winner Minnesota State, Mankato (30).
The Gustie men were led by senior Adam Lund (Burnsville, Minn.). Lund notched his second top 20 performance of the season after finishing 16th in 26:47.2. Gustavus saw three more individuals in the top 50. Chad Claybaugh (Jr., Excelsior, Minn.) finished 32nd, Dillon Emo (So., Brookings, S.D.) finished 46th, and Joseph Renier (Jr., Cambridge, Minn.) finished 47th.
