Women’s Golf In The Lead After Opening Day Of UW-Eau Claire Invitational Posted on September 1st, 2012 by

Eau Claire, Wis. – The Gustavus women’s golf team is currently in first place with a team-total 324 after the opening round of the Eau Claire Invitational held on Saturday afternoon.  Saint Ben’s currently trails the Gusties in second after shooting a 327, while UW-Eau Claire sits in third after shooting a 328.

Pacing the Gusties was sophomore Sam Falk (Glenwood, Minn.).  Falk shot a 75 and currently sits in a tie for second.  Kayleigh Dittes (Eden Prairie, Minn.) shot a 79 and is in sixth place overall.  Both Chloe Altmann (Olivia, Minn.) and Lauren Johnson (Plymouth, Minn.) of Gustavus’ second team both matched Dittes with a 79’s.  The second team fired a 332 to finish sixth on the opening day.

“Sam played great and Kayleigh finished well.  We need our depth to show up tomorrow, but overall, I’m pleased with how we shot today,” said Head Coach Scott Moe.  “This is a great field so we will need to respond to lower team scores tomorrow.”

Wartburg, UW-Stout, and UW-River Falls will tee off at 7:30 a.m. to kick off the tournament’s final day tomorrow.  Gustavus’ first team tees off at 9:22 a.m. while the second team begins at 8:45 a.m.
