Men’s And Women’s Track & Field Honored By USTFCCCA As All-Academic Teams

New Orleans – The accolades for the Gustavus Adolphus men’s and women’s track & field teams keep rolling in.  Most recently, both the men’s and women’s squads were honored as All-Academic Track & Field Teams by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The Gustie women ranked among the top institutions in NCAA Division III with the sixth-best cumulative grade point average of 3.55.  The men’s team earned All-Academic Team distinction with a GPA of 3.13.

A total of 137 female and 74 male schools took home the honor as a result of a cumulative team GPA of 3.10 or better this season.  The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) was well represented on both sides of the spectrum.  There were a nation-best eight schools from the MIAC represented on the men’s side, and another eight schools selected on the women’s side.

The leading cumulative team GPA among Division III women’s programs was reported by Ursinus (3.71). Bluffton (3.64) and Colorado College (3.62) are within the top three squads.  Cal Tech reported the best cumulative team GPA (3.60) among Division III men’s programs. Pomona-Pitzer (3.56) and Middlebury (3.53) were among the top three reports.

The Wartburg College women’s track and field swept the Scholar Team of the Year awards for both the indoor and outdoor seasons after winning both the NCAA indoor and outdoor track and field titles.  It was a clean sweep on the men’s side also, as UW-Eau Claire earned Scholar Team of the Year for both indoor and outdoor.  The Blugolds placed second at the NCAA Indoor Championships and sixth at the Outdoor Championships.
