St. Peter, Minn. – The Gustavus track and field team competed in the 12th Annual Drake Alternative on Saturday afternoon at the Gustavus Outdoor Track and Field Complex.
There were no team scores kept at the meet as participating schools include Augsburg College, Bemidji State University, Bethany Lutheran College, Carleton College, Hamline University, Martin Luther College, the University of Minnesota, UM-Duluth, Minnesota State University-Mankato, UM-Morris, North Dakota State University, Northwestern College, St. Cloud State University, Saint John’s University, St. Olaf College, St. Thomas, and the University of Sioux Falls.
Emily Klatt was Gustavus’ standout at the Drake Alternative, recording a win in the triple jump and two second place finishes. Klatt recorded a leap of 35-10 to win the triple jump. Her second place marks came in the 200-meter dash (27.43) and long jump (17-6.25).
Allyson Voss and Danielle Burgmeier also won gold at the meet. Voss won the pole vault after clearing 12-4.50, and Burgmeier took the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:05.47.
Second place finishers on the track included Amanda Iverson and Erica Roelofs. Iverson went 59.48 in the 400-meter dash and Roelofs ran a 1:08.02 in the 400-meter hurdles.
Other top finishers on the track were Sara Lundgren, Caitlin Fermoyle, Anna McDevitt, and Olivia Crane – all of which placed third in their respective events. Lundgren ran a 59.80 in the 400-meter dash, Fermoyle went 2:26.59 in the 800-meter, McDevitt crossed the finish line in 17.72 in the 100-meter hurdles, and Crane ran a 12:39.74 in the steeplechase.
Sarah Baker, Lauren Rothschiller, and Allyson Hannemann rounded out Gustavus’ top performers with third place finishes in their field events. Baker cleared 5-1 in high jump, Rothschiller recorded a distance of 35-1.75 in the triple jump, and Hannemann turned in a toss of 122-6 in the discus.
The Gustavus track and field team will next compete at the Meet of the UnSaintly on May 5-6 in St. Paul.
