The Gustavus men’s track and field team posted one of its best performances of the season last Saturday in its first home meet – the 11th annual Lee Krough Invitational held in St. Peter, Minn. Sophomore standout Blair Riegel continued to impress both on the track and in the field by claiming two first place finishes along with a pair of top-three performances. For his outstanding performance, Riegel has been named MIAC Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete-of-the-Week.
The Lakeville, Minn. native set a personal best in the triple jump, winning the event with a distance of 47-05.0 feet, which is also the best jump in the MIAC this year. In the long jump, Riegel claimed the podium after clearing a distance of 22-0.75 feet, which ranks third in the conference. There wasn’t much of a drop off in his two events on the track as Riegel placed second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.94 and third in the 200 at 22.27.
The Gustavus track and field team is back in action on April 26-28 at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa.
