Women’s Tennis Cruises Past Southwestern 9-0 Posted on April 3rd, 2012 by

The Gustavus women’s tennis team bounced back from Sunday’s narrow 5-4 loss to Incarnate Word with a convincing 9-0 victory over Southwestern University on Monday in Georgetown, Texas.  Gustavus, who is now 1-1 on its trip to the San Antonio region of Texas, will face No.14 Trinity University to close out the Texas tour on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.

“It was good to see the team come back from yesterday’s close loss with a win today,” said Head Coach Jon Carlson.  “It has been in the 80’s here and the ladies have handled the heat they are not used to very well.  Tomorrow’s match with Trinity is a great opportunity to see where we are at heading into the remainder of our conference schedule and the Midwest Invite.”

Gustavus cruised to a sweep of the doubles competition before winning all six singles matches in straight sets.  Gustavus enters tomorrow’s match with an overall mark of 9-3.
