Men’s Hockey Jumps To No. 8 In USCHO.com Poll Posted on March 5th, 2012 by

Following Saturday’s exciting 4-2 victory over St. Olaf in the championship game of the MIAC Playoffs, the Gustavus men’s hockey team moved up three more spots to a No. 8 ranking in the most recent USCHO.com Division III Men’s Hockey Poll released Monday, March 5th.   The Gusties have maintained a top-15 the past four weeks.

It is the first time since Jan. 3, 2011 that Gustavus has cracked the top-10 of the USCHO.com poll, ranking fifth at the time with a record of 9-3-1.

The Gustavus men’s hockey team earned the MIAC’s automatic berth into the 2012 NCAA Division III Men’s Hockey Tournament with its win over St. Olaf on Saturday.  The Gusties, who went into the weekend ranked No. 2 in the West Region, were selected as a host institution for the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. The Three Crowns will play host to the Milwaukee School of Engineering on Wednesday, March 7 at 7:00 p.m.  MSOE earned the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association’s automatic berth into the NCAA Post-Season by defeating Adrian 4-3 on Sunday, March 4th.
