Three Women’s Cross Country Runners Named To USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Posted on February 13th, 2012 by

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches’ Association (USTFCCCA) announced its national academic honors for the 2011 women’s cross country season on Friday and three Gusties garnered 2011 USTFCCCA Division III All-Academic Cross Country honors. Brooke Beskau (Sr., Hastings, Minn.), Kate Eggers (Jr., Montevideo, Minn.) and Beth Hauer (Jr., Little Falls, Minn.) were all named to the team.

Across Division III, a total of 183 student-athletes were honored, representing 96 institutions, with Washington (Mo.) leading the way with seven selections. To qualify for the honor, a runner must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or greater through the most recent semester and have placed in the Top 35 at the NCAA Regional Championships.

The trio of Gusties crossed the finish line at the NCAA Central Region Meet in the Top 28. Beskau notched Gustavus’ quickest time in 22:55.1 for 23rd place, Eggers five seconds later in 23:00.5 for 26th and Hauer on the heels of Eggers in 23:03.0 for 28th.

Beskau, a senior education major, has accumulated a 3.971 GPA; Eggers, a junior Spanish major, has a 3.720 GPA; and Hauer is a junior music major with a 3.955 GPA.
