Women’s Cross Country Takes Seventh At Tori Neubauer Invite

Brooke Beskau took 16th at the Tori Neubauer Invite.

The Gustavus women’s cross country team raced to a seventh place finish at the Tori Neubauer Invitational on Saturday in La Crosse, Wis. The Gusties tallied 196 points with an average time of 23:42.3. The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire won the event with 44 points and four of its runners in the top eight. The University of Minnesota placed second with 58 points and Nebraska Wesleyan third with a score of 120.

Out of 387 participants, Hannah Kinberg of Nebraska Wesleyan took the podium with a time of 22:12.7. Wartburg’s Emily Eimers finished second at 22:20.9 and Kinberg’s teammate, Haley Sutter, took third at 22:26.3.

Brooke Beskau crossed the finish line first for Gustavus with a time of 23:02.6 for 16th place. Seven other Gusties broke the 25-minute mark – Elizabeth Hauer: 23:25.9 (26th), Kate Eggers: 23.33.6 (32nd), Rebecca Hare: 24.10.4 (56th), Kim Rostvold: 24:19.0 (66th), Meredith Bache-Wiig: 24:25.8 (74th), Andi Eglinton: 24:32.8 (82nd) and Danielle Burgmeier: 24:54.2 (122nd).

The Gusties will compete at the MIAC Championships in St. Paul, Minn. on Oct. 29 with the women’s 6K set to begin at 2:15 p.m. Last year, Gustavus placed fourth in the conference race.
