Women’s Cross Country Tops Bethany At Gustavus Invitational

Junior Beth Hauer led the way for the Gusties, winning the race with a time of 20:32.4.

The Gustavus women’s cross country team finished the Gustavus Invitational with 13 of the top 15 places on Thursday, September 1 at Linneaus Arboretum, located on the Gustavus campus, en route to a 16-46 finish over Bethany Lutheran College. Junior Beth Hauer placed first with a time of 20:32.4.

The other 12 Gusties to finish in the top 15 include:

3rd: Rebecca Hare – 21.08.8

4th: Danielle Burgmeier – 21:24.9

6th: Andi Eglinton – 22:20.5

7th: Lyndsi Schwichtenberg – 22:25.3

9th: Danielle Wittenberg – 22:53.4

10th: Lauren Nelson – 23:00.2

11th: Kim Rostvold – 23:14.2

12th: Kayte Cole – 23:17.2

13th: Sara Lundgren – 23:26.2

14th: Meredith Bache-Wiig – 23:27.3

15th: Penny Poeschl – 23:29.2

Bethany registered two runners in the top 10. Laura Anderson finished fifth with a time of 21:49.3 and Catherine Penning in eighth at 22:32.7.

“It went really well,” senior captain Kim Rostvold commented on the race. “We’ve got a strong team this year and girls pulled it through today. We’ve had a lot of mileage on our legs right now from early camp, but we pulled it together and raced well on our home course. It’s always fun.”

The Gusties hit the road on Friday, September 9 for the Saint John’s Invitational in Collegeville, Minn. The women’s 6K race will begin at 5:45 p.m.
