Women’s Golf Remains In Second Place at NCAA Championships

The Gustavus women’s golf team remained in contention for the 2011 NCAA Women’s Golf Championship with a second round total of 333. The Gusties held on to their second place position with a 36-hole total of 322-333-655 and trail first place Methodist (318-319–637) by 18 strokes.

The Gustavus women’s golf team remained in contention for the 2011 NCAA Women’s Golf Championship with a second round total of 333.  The Gusties held on to their second place position with a 36-hole total of 322-333-655 and trail first place Methodist (318-319–637) by 18 strokes.  Individually, Rikka Holiday leads the Gustavus contingent as she sits in sixth place with a 36-hole total of 77-83–160.  Holiday trails tournament leader Paige Caldwell of Methodist (77-76–153) by seven strokes.

Kayleigh Dittes turned in the low round of the day for Gustavus as she registered a score of 82.  Other scores for the Gusties included Katie Schenfeld with an 83, Taylor Drenttel with an 85, and Annie Jackson with an 88.

At the midway point of the tournament, Holiday leads the way in sixth place with a total of 77-83-160.  She is followed by Schenfeld in 10th place at 80-83–163, Dittes in 27th place at 86-82–168, Jackson in 27th place at 80-88–168, and Drenttel in 41st place at 85-85–170.

The Gusties are scheduled to tee off for the third round beginning at 1:20 pm (EST) on Thursday.
