Gustavus junior Seth Anderson (Minnesota Lake, Minn.) was named to the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Men’s Basketball All-Conference Team for the 2010-2011 season. Other Gustavus players receiving recognition included All-Conference Honorable Mention honorees Dan Schmidtknecht (La Crosse, Wis.) and Phil Wirtjes (Des Moines, Iowa). Matt Doble (Sarasota, Fla.) was named to the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team.
In his first year as a starter, Seth Anderson averaged a team-best 13.4 points per game and shot 59.8% from the field to rank third in the MIAC in field goal percentage. Over the last seven games of the season, Anderson averaged a scorching 23.71 points per game.
Senior Dan Schmidtknecht received All-Conference Honorable Mention honors after leading the MIAC in assists with 124 (6.20 per game) in conference play, and ranking eighth in the conference with an 82.4% free-throw percentage.
Phil Wirtjes, the Gusties’ other All-Conference Honorable Mention honoree, ranked third in the MIAC in free-throw percentage (88.7%) and eighth in three-point field goal percentage (41.9%) over the course of the 2010-2011 league season.
Matt Doble was named to the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team. As a part of the conference-wide sportsmanship initiative, the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team members are selected by their coaches and teammates as individuals who demonstrate ideals of positive sportsmanship both on and off the court.
