Men’s Hockey Set To Battle Augsburg In First Round Of MIAC Playoffs Posted on February 25th, 2011 by

The Gustavus men's hockey team will take on Augsburg in the first round of the MIAC Playoffs on Friday afternoon in St. Peter, Minn.

The Gustavus men’s hockey team is set to take on Augsburg in the first round of the MIAC Playoffs on Friday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. in Don Roberts Ice Rink.  The #4 seed Gusties enter the matchup with a record of 14-9-2, while Augsburg comes in with a record of 14-8-2.

Augsburg will be looking for redemption at Don Roberts Ice Rink after the Gusties knocked them out of the playoffs last season with a 6-5 four-overtime victory in what was the longest game in the history of Division III hockey.  The two squads have met in the playoffs just twice previously to today’s contest, with Gustavus coming out victorious on both occasions.

The Gustavus men’s hockey team is making its 10th consecutive appearance in the MIAC Post-Season, as it is the 20th time that the Gusties have qualified for the MIAC Playoffs.  Gustavus is 14-21 all-time in conference post-season play.  This is the third straight year, and fourth time in the last five years, that Augsburg has reached the MIAC men’s hockey playoffs.
