Men’s Hockey To Close Regular Season With Series Against Saint Mary’s Posted on February 18th, 2011 by

Gustavus blueliner Matt Schugel will be one of five seniors honored as a part of Senior Night Saturday against Saint Mary's. This group of seniors has gone 6-1-0 against the Cardinals in their careers.

The Gustavus men’s hockey team is set to bring a close to the 2010-11 season with an away/home series against Saint Mary’s University.  Game one between the Golden Gusties and Cardinals will take place Friday night at 7:05 p.m. at the SMU Ice Arena in Winona, Minn.  Game two is set for 7:05 p.m. in Don Roberts Ice Rink Saturday in St. Peter, Minn.  Saturday’s contest is designated as Senior Night, as five Gustavus men’s hockey seniors will be honored for their commitment and dedication to the Gustavus Men’s Hockey Program.  The five seniors include Brad Wieck, Mitch Carlson, Ryan Noonan, Matt Schugel, and Josh Swartout.

Gustavus is currently tied for second place in the MIAC standings alongside Concordia with 16 points.  The Gusties are 13-8-2 overall 7-5-2 in the MIAC.  Saint Mary’s is at the bottom of the conference with 10 points at 5-16-2 overall and 4-8-2 in the MIAC.
