Women’s Swimming & Diving Drops Home Opener 209-91 To St. Cloud State

The Gustavus women’s swimming and diving team fell to St. Cloud State University 209-91 in the home opener on Saturday afternoon in the Lund Center Natatorium. The Gusties tallied 13 top three finishes at the meet, as Alissa Tinklenberg was the top Gustavus swimmer of the meet.

The Gustavus women’s swimming and diving team fell to St. Cloud State University 209-91 in the home opener on Saturday afternoon in the Lund Center Natatorium.  The Gusties tallied 13 top three finishes and three event wins at the meet.

Alissa Tinklenberg and Sarah Hund and were the top Gustavus swimmers of the dual.  Tinklenberg recorded a first place finish in the 200 freestyle (1:59.65), a second place finish in the 100 backstroke (1:02.08), and a third place finish in the 500 freestyle (5:26.50).  Hund won the 100 freestyle with a time of 54.43 and took second in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.84.

The only second place Gustavus swimmer of the afternoon was Carley Mosher.  She finished runner up in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:00.09.

Third place Gustavus swimmers included Brogan Barr in the 1000 freestyle (11:16.95), Anika Erickson in the 50 breaststroke (33.66), Steph Korba in the 100 butterfly (1:02.05), Kelsey Lucia in the 50 freestyle (25.07), and Dajana Vidovic in the 100 freestyle (25.07).

The Gustavus 400 freestyle relay team composed of Lucia, Tinklenberg, Hund, and Vidovic took first with a time 3:38.77, while the 200 medley relay team of Mosher, Erickson, Korba, and Lucia finished runner up with a time of 1:51.75.

The Gustavus women’s swimming and diving team will be back in the pool on Friday, Nov. 12, at the St. Catherine Invite at 6:00 p.m. in St. Paul.
