Women’s Cross Country Posts Solid Fifth Place Finish At Wartburg

The Gustavus women’s cross country team ran in a strong field at the Dan Huston Invitational and finished fifth out of 23 teams. Kate Eggers led Gustavus with an 11th place finish in a time of 23:10.

The Gustavus women’s cross country team ran in a strong field at the Dan Huston Invitational and finished fifth out of 23 teams.  The meet, which was run on the same course that the NCAA Championships will be held in November, contained many of the top squads in the Midwest Region.  Kate Eggers led Gustavus with an 11th place finish in a time of 23:10.

Other top finishers for Gustavus included Kim Rostvold (20 – 23:41), Elizabeth Hauer (21 – 23:42), Danielle Burgmeier (42 – 24:24), Megan Lundgren (57 – 24:49), Erica Hett (66th – 25:02) and Laura Secor (25:36).

The Gusties totalled 151 points to finish behind champion Wartburg with 65 points.   Gustavus ran without senior Brooke Beskau who is battling a leg injury.

Coach Dale Bahr and his squad will wrap up their regular season by taking part in the Tori Neubauer Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse next Saturday.
