Women’s Golf Remains In First Following Day Two At MIAC Championship

The Gustavus women’s golf team held strong in the second day of competition at the 2010 MIAC Championship. The Gusties shot a 323 in day two, improving four strokes from day one to hold the lead with a team-score 650 (+74)

The Gustavus women’s golf team held strong in the second day of competition at the 2010 MIAC Championship.  The Gusties shot a 323 in day two, improving four strokes from day one to hold the lead with a team-score 650 (+74).  Katie Schenfeld fired another 73 in day two, remaining in first place with a 146 (+2).  Schenfeld has a 15 stroke lead over second place Kathryn Hauff (161) of Saint Benedict.  Taylor Drenttel rounds out the top-three in third with a 163 (+19) after shooting an 81 in day two.

St. Olaf trails the Gusties in second place with two-day total 682 (+106), while Carleton sits in third with a 689 (+113).

Individually, Gustavus’s Kayleigh Dittes is currently in the top-ten, ranking sixth with an 85-83-168.  Rikka Holiday and Ann Jackson round out the Gustavus squad in 16th (88-86-174) and 18th (87-88-175), respectively.

Head Coach Scott Moe expects his players to keep the momentum going by putting up four more solid scores in the final day of competition.

The MIAC Championship is being held at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids, Minn.  The Gustavus women will tee off at 10:00 am tomorrow morning.
