Set scores for the match were 25-10, 25-20, 19-25, 25-15.

Gustavus got off to a fast start claiming the first set by a score of 25-10.  The Gusties were sharp on the attack registering 12 kills in 29 attempts with only one error for a .379 attack percentage.  Nicki Ainsworth led the way with four kills.

The Gusties continued their solid hitting in the second set and posted a .217 attack percentage on their way to a 25-20 win.  Ahrendt and Dana Boerboom led the way with five kills each.

Waldorf bounced back to win the third set 25-19 before Gustavus came back to close out the match with a 25-15 win in the fourth set.

Dana Boerboom turned in a strong all-around performance for Gustavus with nine kills, 11 digs, two service aces and one block assist.  Malea Noennig and Kelsey Florian both registered double-digit assists registering 21 and 18 assists, respectively.  Libero Jenny Ewert led the defensive effort with 32 digs.

Coach Rachelle Dosch was happy that the players were rewarded for their hard work in practice.  She commented, “This group has been working hard to get better every day in practice and I feel good that they were rewarded with a win tonight.” Dosch added, “Angela Arhendt really did a nice job at the net, she was really reading the block well on the attack and getting to the block quickly when Waldorf was on the attack.”

Tonight’s contest wrapped up a recent stretch where the Gusties have played nine of their last 10 matches at home.  Coach Dosch and the team will now hit the road for nearly three weeks including a non-conference match at Bethany next Monday and important conference contests at Hamline on Wednesday and at St. Kate’s on Friday.
