Sam Frank - 2010 USTA/ITA Midwest Region Singles Champion
The Gustavus women’s tennis team turned in a strong performance at the USTA/ITA Midwest Regional highlighted by Sam Frank winning the singles title and Megan Gaard and Marianne Barau winning the doubles title. All three players now advance to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Small College Championships, which will take place Oct. 14-17 at the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center in Mobile, Alabama.
Frank, who was seeded ninth in the tournament draw, defeated teammate Megan Gaard 6-2, 6-4 in the championship match, while Gaard and Barau (seeded #1) defeated teammates Frank and Maria Bryan 7-5, 6-3 (seeded #2) in the doubles final.
