Gustavus women’s golfer Katie Schenfeld (Indianola, Iowa) has been named MIAC Women’s Golfer of the Week following her performances at the Georgianni Memorial Invite in Eau Claire, Wisc. on Sept. 4-5 and the Wartburg Invitational in Waverly, Iowa on Sept. 11-12. Schenfeld, the reigning MIAC Player of the Year, claimed first place after shooting a two-day total of 157 (80-77) at the Giorgianni Invite. This past weekend at the Wartburg Invitational, Shenfeld earned a tie for fourth place after shooting a 162 (81-81).
The Gusties finished in second place at the Giorgianni Invite with a team score of 665 (336-329) and third place at the Wartburg Invite with a team score of 674 (343-331). Schenfeld was the top golfer from the MIAC in both tournaments. In four rounds this season, she has totaled 319 strokes for an average of 79.8 (+8) per round.
The Gustavus women’s golf team will travel to Notre Dame, Ind. to compete in the two-day O’Brien National Invitational held on Sept 19-20, at the Warren Golf Course on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. Play is scheduled to tee off at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday and 8:00 a.m. on Monday.
