Katie Schenfeld Named MIAC Women's Golfer of the Week

Gustavus Adolphus College junior Katie Schenfeld (Indianola, Iowa) has been named the MIAC Women’s Golf Athlete of the Week for her performance at the St. Thomas Invitational played at Pebble Creek Golf Course in Becker, Minn. on Saturday and Sunday.  Schenfeld finished first individually with a total of 75-73-148 at the meet.  Schenfeld’s week-to-week improvement was on display, as her 36-hole total of 148 is the lowest of her collegiate career, besting the 149 she shot last weekend in the Augustana Invitational.  As a team, the #2 ranked Gusties posted a 36-hole team score of 620 to finish 26 strokes ahead of second place UW-Eau Claire, which is ranked #3 nationally.

It is the fifth time this school year that Schenfeld has been bestowed MIAC Athlete of the Week honors, recieving the recognition three times during the Fall season and twice this Spring.  The Gustavus women’s golf team will be in action next on April 24-25, when the Gusties compete at the Carleton College Invitational held at the Northfield Golf Course in Northield, Minn.
