Gustavus and the NATA Celebrate National Athletic Training Month

March is National Athletic Training Month and Gustavus is proud to salute its talented full-time Athletic Trainers as well as the student athletic training staff. The Gustavus athletic training program has long been a leader in the education of athletic trainers in addition to providing outstanding care to thousands of student athletes.

This year’s National Athletic Training Month theme is:  Sports Safety is a Team Effort.  Gustavus Adolphus College currently employees six full-time Certified Athletic Trainers.  Along with these six individuals Gustavus also houses a CAATE accredited Athletic Education Program.  Gustavus Certified Athletic Trainers are medical professionals who are experts in injury prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation, particularly in the orthopedic and musculoskeletal disciplines.

Athletic Trainers are health care professionals who collaborate with physicians and other health care professionals to optimize activity and participation of patients and clients.  At Gustavus, the athletic training team will provide the best health care possible to all student athletes.  Athletic Trainers are a key component to the health care team for the student athlete.  Athletic Trainers in Minnesota must work in conjunction with a supervising physician, and be registered with the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice.  At Gustavus, we are very luck to work with some of the best health care providers in Minnesota.
