The Gustavus women’s nordic ski team took third place (30 pts) at the Saints Invitational on Sunday afternoon in Collegeville, Minn. Senior Erin Eppler was the top Gustavus finisher, as she took fifth overall with a time of 0:38.26. The College of Saint Benedict won the meet with 44 points, while St. Cloud State University finished second with 36 points, St. Scholastica took fourth with 28 points, St. Olaf finished fifth with 27 points, and Bethel placed sixth with five points.
Eppler was racing with the top five for much of the race, yet was out-sprinted towards the end as Saint Ben’s Megan Smith won the race with a time of 0:38.14. Danielle Burgmeier was the other top Gustavus skier as she finished in eighth place with a time of 0:40.48. Other Gustavus finishers included Meredith Bache-Wiig who finished 19th (0:44.38), Olivia Karns in 23rd (0:46.16), Annika Ferber behind her in 24th (0:46.33), and Lauren Harden in 33rd (0:50.51).
The Gustavus women’s nordic ski team will take part in the Minnesota College Relays on Sunday, Jan. 17 in Collegeville, Minn.
