Gustavus senior Skylar Davis (Palatine, Ill.) has been named the MIAC Men's Swimmer of the Week for his efforts in last weekends dual meets against MSU-Mankato and St. Cloud State University. Davis won a total of four races over the weekend, while finishing second in two events.
The Gustavus men’s basketball team lost an exhibition game to Southwest Minnesota State University 66-84 on Monday night in Marshall, Minn. SMSU shot 54.1 (33-61) percent on the night compared to Gustavus’s 47.3 percent (26-55). Jesse Van Sickle led Gustavus with 14 points on 6-14 shooting
The Gustavus men's basketball team will open its 2009-10 season with an exhibition game against Southwest Minnesota State in Marshall, MN. Game time is set for 7:00pm tonight with Live Stats available through the SWSU Sports Information Office.
The Gustavus men's hockey team never got on track in a 3-1 loss at UW-Eau Claire on Saturday night. The Blugolds scored a goal in each period on their way to claiming the win. The Gusties lone goal was a short-handed goal by Ross Ring-Jarvi midway through the third period.
The Gustavus men's swimming and diving team defeated St. Cloud State University by the score of 150-146 Saturday afternoon in St. Peter, MN. William Schultze was Gustavus's top performer as he won the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke, the 200-yard individual medley, and teamed up with Paul Kirihara, Matt Van Fossen, and Peter Roth to win the 200-yard medley relay.
The Gustavus women's swimming and diving team lost to St. Cloud State 90-210 in a dual meet on Saturday afternoon in St. Peter. Carrie Gunderson was Gustavus's top performer as she won both the 200 and 500 freestyle.
The Gustavus football team suffered a 20-7 loss to St. Olaf on Senior Day at Lloyd Hollingsworth Field on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Eliott Herdina scored the lone Gustie touchdown on a 53-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.
The Gustavus men's swimming and diving team fell to MSU, Mankato 117-119 on Friday night in Mankato, MN. Whitaker Davis and Bill Klein led the Gusties with four first place finishes between the pair. Gustavus won a total of seven events in the meet and turned in seven second place finishes.
The Gustavus men's hockey team jumped out to a 3-1 lead and then held on for a 3-2 win over previously unbeaten UW-River Falls in River Falls on Friday night. Senior captain Cody Mosbeck scored the gamewinner for the Gusties, while Josh Swartout picked up the win in the nets.
