Greg Lane’s 86-Yard Kickoff Return In Final Minute Gives Football Team 20-19 Win Over Concordia

In one of the more improbable finishes in the history of the Gustavus football program, the Gusties slipped past Concordia 20-19 when Greg Lane took a Concordia kickoff and raced 86 yards for a touchdown with 39 seconds left to play to tie the score at 19-19. Tom Huepenbecker's extra point gave Gustavus a 20-19 victory.

Men’s Cross Country Team Finishes 16th At NCAA Central Region Meet

Rostvold Earns All-Region Honors As Women’s Cross Country Team Places 9th At NCAA Central Regional

The Gustavus women's cross country team wrapped up its 2009 season with a 9th place finish out of 26 teams at the NCAA Central Regional, which took place in Grinnell, Iowa. The Gusties were led by Kim Rostvold who earned All-Region honors with her 35th place finish.

Martinson’s Four Goals Propel Men’s Hockey Team To 5-4 Win Over St. Olaf

Senior All-American David Martinson thrilled a partisan home crowd with four goals as Gustavus defeated St. Olaf 5-4 on Saturday night at Don Roberts Ice Rink.

Women’s Hockey Rallies To Tie UW-River Falls

The Gustavus women's hockey team opened its 2009-10 season with a 3-3 tie against UW-River Falls on Friday night in River Falls. Allie Schwab scored twice in the final six minutes including a goal with 16 seconds left in regulation play to help the Gusties rally from a 3-1 deficit and tie the Falcons.

Men’s Swimming & Diving Drops Dual Meet to St. Olaf 141-157

The Gustavus men's swimming and diving team lost its opening conference dual meet to St. Olaf 141-157 on Saturday afternoon in St. Peter. Top Gustavus swimmers were Whitaker Davis and Paul Kirihara. Whitaker placed first in the 200 freestyle (1:44.37) and 200 butterfly (2:01.89), and took second in the 100 freestyle (48.75). Kirihara had a another successful day in the backstroke, winning the 100 (53.66) and 200 (1:58.19).

Women’s Swimming & Diving Defeats St. Olaf 181.5-118.5

The Gustavus Women's swimming and diving team got its first win of the season, defeating St. Olaf by the score of 181.5-118.5. Carly Mosher registered four event wins as Gustavus swimmers combined to win 12 events.

Women’s Hockey Opens 2009-10 Season At UW-River Falls On Friday Night

T.J. Ridley Named To CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

Senior football player T.J. Ridley has been named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First Team for the second consecutive year. Ridley, an Edina, Minn. native, who has been a four-year regular for the Gusties, is a biology major with a 3.95 grade point average.

Ainsworth and Kramer Honored By MIAC Volleyball Coaches

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference volleyball coaches released their 2009 Post-Season Awards recently and honored two Gustavus volleyball players for their play this season. Junior Nicki Ainsworth (Eden Prairie, Minn) was named to the 18-member All-Conference team and senior Tara Kramer (Hayfield, Minn) was selected to the All-MIAC Volleyball Sportsmanship team.
