The Gustavus women’s golf team is prepared to tee off at the NCAA Championships on Wednesday in Port St. Lucie, Florida at 12:50 p.m. (EST) along with Amherst and Middlebury. The 72-hole tournament, which will be played at the The PGA Golf Club, starts Wednesday, May 13 and concludes on Saturday, May 16. The Gusties are making their sixth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Championships.
The Gustavus NCAA Tournament squad includes senior Kimbra Kosak (Grand Rapids, Minn.), junior Kali Griggs (Burnsville, Minn.), sophomore Katie Schenfeld (Indianola, Iowa), first year Taylor Drenttel (Eagan, Minn.), and first year Amanda Woodhull (Minnetonka, Minn.). The Gusties enter the NCAA Championships with a team stroke average of 325.7 in nine rounds this spring.
Gustavus enters the NCAA Championships ranked #3 in the most recent National Golf Coaches Association poll (NGCA). Defending champion Methodist is ranked #1 and UW-Stevens Point is ranked #2. The Gusties were 1-2 against UW-Stevens Point this spring including a win over the Pointers by 17 strokes at the St. Thomas Invitational on April 18-19.
