The Gustavus women’s track and field team turned in strong results at Meet of the UnSaintly hosted by Hamline University on Saturday. Lisa Brown (Sr., Lake Crystal, Minn.) recorded two NCAA provisional marks after winning the javelin (44.06 meters) and finishing third in the shot put (12.9 meters). Sam Broderius (So., Hector, Minn.) took first place in the shot put and sixth place in the discus with NCAA provisional distances of 13.51 meters and 44.53 meters, respectively.
In the track events, Aryn Bell (Sr., Eden Prairie, Minn.) finished third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.02. Bell shattered the school record in the preliminaries by crossing the finish line in 14.97. The previous record was 15.24 set in 1982 by Leah Ross. Elizabeth Pringle (Sr., Northfield, Minn.) was fifth in the 400 meters (59.35) and Linda Kanne (Sr., Franklin, Minn.) was sixth in the 100-meter dash (12.80).
Other top six event finishers in field events included Becca Bryson (Jr., Alden, Minn.), who finished third in the triple jump (10.46 meters), and Megan Lundgren (So., Mankato, Minn.), who finished sixth in the long jump (4.86 meters).
Gustavus will compete in the MIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Carleton College in Northfield, Minn. on May 8-9.
