The Gustavus men’s golf team opened its Spring season with a 18th place finish out of 27 teams at the Jekyll Island Invitational in Jekyll Island, Georgia. Ricky Copeland was the top men’s finisher. He placed 67th with a total of 79-79-77–235. The Gusties will spend the rest of the week practicing in Florida and then return to action at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational in Bloomington, Illinois on April 3-4.

Joining Copeland in the top five for Gustavus was AJ Olson, who placed 71st with a total of 81-77-78–235, John Anderson, who placed 77th with a total of 81-77-78–237, Josh Curb, who finished 91st with a total of 79-77-83, and Derek Hilding, who placed 136th with a total of 91-84-86–261.

Dan Barthell played in the tournament as an individual. He posted scores of 88-87 the first two days before withdrawing in the final round on Sunday.
