Women’s Cross Country Team Completes Season With 11th Place Finish At NCAA Central Region Meet Posted on November 16th, 2008 by

The Gustavus women’s cross country team wrapped up its 2008 season with an 11th place finish (out of 26 teams) at the NCAA Central Region Meet hosted by Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa on Saturday. The Gusties were led by sophomore Brooke Beskau (Hastings, Minn.) who earned All-Region honors with an 18th place finish. The meet was won by Wartburg with a team total of 92. Gustavus compiled a team score of 320.

Beskau completed her breakout sophomore season with an 18th place finish in a time of 23:04.2. She was the eighth highest MIAC finisher in the race.

The other runners making up the top seven for the Gusties included Kelly Chaudoin (Sr., Ely, Minn.), who placed 45th in a time of 23:56.6, Vanessa Jones (Jr., Grand Forks, No. Dak./Red River), who placed 68th in a time of 24:28.7, Danielle Burgmeier (Fy., Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata), who placed 90th in a time of 25:01.2, Jill Fagerstrom (Sr., Rosemount, Minn.), who placed 99th in a time of 25:15.2, Megan Lundgren (So., Mankato, Minn./East), who placed 101st in a time of 25:16.7, and Kim Rostvold (Fy., Grand Rapids, Minn.), who placed 128th in a time of 26:00.6.

The meet was the final race for seniors Kelly Chaudoin and Jill Fagerstrom who have been an integral part of the Gustavus women’s cross country program for the past four years.
