Gustavus Adolphus College senior setter Bridget Burtzel (Cold Spring, Minn./ROCORI) has been named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Setter/Libero of the Week for the week ending October 27, 2008. Burtzel helped the Gusties secure a MIAC playoff spot with key wins over 21st-ranked Saint Benedict and 12th-ranked Concordia College last week.

For the week, Burtzel totaled 108 assists (12.0 per set), 21 digs (2.3 per set), two service aces and one block in nine sets. She tallied 63 assists in five sets versus Concordia on Friday and 45 in four sets against Saint Benedict last Wednesday.

Burtzel, a management major, is the daughter of Randy and Jeanne Burtzel of Cold Spring, Minn. and a 2005 graduate of ROCORI High School.

Gustavus, which is 23-3 overall and 7-2 in the MIAC, will finish the regular season on the road against Macalester on Wednesday in St. Paul at 7 p.m. and Saint Mary’s on Saturday in Winona at 3 p.m.
