Gustavus Women’s Tennis Performs Well In First Day at Gopher Invitational

The Gustavus women's tennis team kicked off its fall season at the Gopher Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis on Friday. The Gusties are the only non-Division I program in the 10-team field. Sophomore Marianne Barau and first year Mary Roop both went 2-0 in singles play on the first day.

Men’s Golf Rained Out At Saint John’s Invitational

The first round of the Saint John's Invitational was cancelled due to wind and rain on Saturday. The tournament will now be an 18-hole round tomorrow (Sunday, Sept. 14) at Blackberry Ridge G.C. in Sartell.

Volleyball Sees Winning Streak Come To End Against North Dakota, Defeats Carleton

The Gustavus volleyball team saw its winning streak come to a halt on Saturday as the Gusties fell to undefeated University of North Dakota 3-1 (25-20, 16-25, 14-25, 16-25) in St. Peter. It did not take long for Gustavus get back on the winning track as the Gusties defeated MIAC rival Carleton 3-0 (25-19, 30-28, 25-22) in a non-conference contest later in the afternoon.

Kosak’s 76 Helps Gustavus Women’s Golf To First Round Lead at the Midwest Classic

Kimbra Kosak continued her fine play in the fall season firing a 18-hole total of 76 on a cool and rainy day at Majestic Oaks Golf Club in Ham Lake, Minn. Kosak's round helped the Gusties fired an impressive team score of 318, which was 25 shots better than second place University of St. Thomas.

Women’s Cross Country Finishes 12th At Les Duke Invitational

The Gustavus women's cross country team opened its 2008 season with a 12th place finish out of 24 teams at the Les Duke Invitational hosted by Grinnell College at the Oakland Acres Country Club in Grinnell, Iowa. The Gusties were led by sophomore Brooke Beskau who placed 24th out of 328 runners with a time of 24:10 over the 6,000 meter course.

Freshman Elliot Herdina Stars As Gustie Football Team Opens With 27-19 Win Over Coe

The Gustavus football team used two Elliot Herdina second half touchdowns to slip past Coe College 27-19 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Saturday afternoon. The Gustie defense came up with several big plays in crucial situations to limit the Kohawks to four field goals, while not allowing an offensive touchdown in the contest. Herdina, in his first game at Gustavus, rushed three times for 74 yards, including a 68-yard TD scamper, and caught three passes for 40 yards, including a nine-yard TD reception.

Women’s Soccer Opens MIAC Play With 1-1 Draw Against Concordia

On a rainy afternoon in St. Peter, Minn., the Gustavus women's soccer team opened up its Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with a 1-1 (2 OT) draw against the Cobbers from Concordia-Moorhead. Junior forward Chelsea Craven opened the scoring for the Gusties early in the second half only to have Concordia's Maia Johnson tie the game 18 minutes later.

Men’s Cross Country Team Opens 2008 Season With 12th Place Finish At Les Duke Invitational

The Gustavus men's cross country team opened its 2008 season with a solid 12th place finish out of 26 teams. The Gusties were led by senior co-captain Dan Foley, who placed 22nd out of 361 runners with a time of 27:13 over the 8,000 meter course.

Football Set To Kickoff Season Against Coe College

The Gustavus Adolphus football team hits the gridiron for the first time this season on Saturday against the Coe College Kohawks in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Women’s Cross Country Opens Season At Les Duke Invitational This Saturday

The Gustavus women's cross country team will open its 2008 season on Saturday, Sept. 13 at the Les Duke Invitational hosted by Grinnell College. The Gusties return five of the team's top eight runners from a squad that finished sixth at the MIAC Championships last year. Coach Friedrich has been pleased with the team's training since reporting to campus in mid-August and is excited to get the racing season underway.
