After completing 27 holes of golf on Sunday, the Gustavus men’s golf team won the 18-team Wartburg Invitational with a two-day score of 306-300–606 in Waverly, Iowa at Centennial Oaks Golf Course. The Gusties edged Maryville (MO) by three strokes as the Saints shot a two-day total of 306–303–609. Jordan Hawkinson (Sr., Lindstrom, Minn.) paced Gustavus with a score of 74-74–148, as he finished second individually. Nick Profancik of Maryville earned medalist honors with a two-day total of 72-67–139.
In addition to Hawkinson’s second-place finish, two other Gustie golfers placed in the top five. Ricky Copeland (So., Mathomedi, Minn.) and Mark Stuckey (Sr., St. Peter, Minn.) tied for fourth-place as Copeland shot 75-77–152 and Stuckey posted a score of 80-72–152. Kyle Rohlfs (Sr., Fergus Falls, Minn.) and Eric Harris (Sr., Eden Prairie, Minn.) rounded out the scorers for Gustavus. Rohlfs shot a two-day total of 77-79–156, while Harris finished both days with a score of 84-77–161.
Gustavus, which is ranked third in the most recent Golf World/Nike Golf Division III Coaches’ poll, will host the Bobby Krig Invitational at the LeSueur Country Club on April 21-22.
