Men’s Hockey Team Set To Face Bethel In Key Conference Series, Game Will Be Broadcast on the Internet

The Gustavus men's hockey team will face Bethel University in a key conference series this Friday and Saturday night. Friday night's game will be played in St. Peter, Minn. and the game will be broadcast through the Gustavus athletics website.

Post-Season Accolades Continue For Men’s Soccer Team

The Gustavus Adolphus College men's soccer team continues to earn post-season awards for success on and off the field. Senior forward Mike Butterworth and sophomore midfielder Fraser Horton have been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Far West region and the D3Kicks.com West region teams. Senior midfielder Jack Underwood joined Butterworth and Horton on the NSCAA All-Far West region team, as well as being named to the NSCAA Scholar All-American team.

Wittwer, Sivesind Score 21 Apiece, As Men’s Basketball Team Defeats Hamline 74-61

Senior captains Trevor Wittwer and Kane Sivesind scored 21 points each as the Gustavus men's basketball team improved to 6-2 in MIAC play with a 74-61 win at Hamline University on Wednesday evening. The Gusties have now won nine of their last 10 games.

Men’s Basketball Team Set To Face Hamline in St. Paul

The Gustavus men's basketball team faces Hamline tonight at 7:30 pm in an important Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup. The Gusties are currently 9-3 overall and 5-2 in the MIAC, while the Pipers are 6-6 overall and 4-3 in the MIAC. Read on for game notes.

Strong Second Half Shooting Lifts Women’s Basketball Over Hamline In 73-66 Victory

The Gustavus women's basketball team found its shooting touch in the second half of Wednesday night's 73-66 win over Hamline at Gus Young Court in St. Peter. Katie Layman posted 14 points on 5-6 shooting from the field in the second-half to lead a Gustie offense that shot 50% from the floor in the half. Hamline had three players score in double-digits, but committed 25 turnovers that resulted in 25 points for Gustavus.

Trevor Wittwer Named MIAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

Gustavus Adolphus College senior wing Trevor Wittwer (Redwood Falls, Minn.) has been named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending January 14, 2008. Wittwer averaged 19.3 points and 5.7 rebounds per game to help the Gusties compile a 2-1 record last week.

Joe Welch Named MIAC Men’s Hockey Player of the Week

Gustavus Adolphus College sophomore forward Joe Welch (Hastings, Minn.) has been named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Hockey Player of the Week for the week ending January 14, 2008. Welch scored four goals in two games last weekend as the Gusties defeated St. Scholastica 8-3 on Friday night and tied UW-Superior 3-3 on Saturday night.

Jessica Doig Named MIAC Women’s Hockey Player of the Week

Gustavus Adolphus College junior forward Jessica Doig (Jr., New Prague, Minn.) has been named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Hockey Player of the Week for the week ending January 14, 2008. Doig posted two goals and one assist over the weekend as the Gusties defeated St. Olaf 6-0 and Saint Mary's 3-1 in non-conference games.

Men’s Nordic Skiing Takes Second Place At Saints Invitational

The Gustavus men's nordic ski team missed first place at the Saints Invitational in Collegeville, Minn. on Sunday afternoon by one point behind the College of St. Scholastica. The Golden Gusties earned 71 points in the 12K Freestyle race, behind 72 points for St. Scholastica. Both schools had three skiers finish in the top eight, but the Saints' third skier finished one place higher than the Gusties' third skier for the team win.

Women’s Nordic Skiers Sweep Medal Stand At Saints Invitational

The Gustavus women's nordic ski team claimed first place at the Saints Invitational in Collegeville, Minn. on Sunday afternoon by capturing the top three finishes. The Golden Gusties earned the highest point total possible of 78 in the 6K Freestyle race, well ahead of second-place Saint Benedict, which had 62 points.
