Gymnasts Drop Season Opener at UW-Whitewater 170.550 to 180.875

The Gustavus women's gymnastics team opened its season with a 170.550 to 180.875 loss at the Univeristy of Wisconsin - Whitewater. The Gusties top performance was recorded by Jessica Dolan who tied for second on the vault with a score of 9.275.

Men’s Hockey Team Skates to 3-3 Tie With UW-Superior

The Gustavus men's hockey team wrapped up the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 3-3 tie against the University of Wisconsin-Superior in Superior on Saturday night. Joe Welch scored the tying goal for the Gusties with two minutes and 22 seconds remaining in the third period.

Men’s and Women’s Swimming Open New Year With Wins At CSB/SJU Invitational

The Gustavus men's and women's swimming programs started the new year by bringing home both first place titles from the CSB/SJU Winter Invitational in Collegeville, Minn. on Saturday. The Golden Gustie men captured 963 points, while St. Thomas finished in second place with 688 points and St. John's compiled 534 points for third. On the women's side, Gustavus tallied 896 points with Saint Benedict close behind with 856 points. St. Thomas rounded out the competition with 669 points.

Women’s Hockey Continues Winning Ways With 3-1 Victory Over Saint Mary’s

The Gustavus women's hockey team held a 2-1 lead in the third period before Mari Gunderson (Jr., Shoreview, Minn.) scored the insurance goal in a 3-1 win over Saint Mary's on Saturday afternoon in Winona. Gunderson scored the goal two minutes after Cassie Stoner tied the game for the Cardinals with a power play goal. Gustavus extended its unbeaten streak over the Cardinals to 15 games as the Gusties improved to 11-1-0 overall.

Shooting Woes Continue In Women’s Basketball 57-50 Loss To St. Thomas

Cold shooting continued to plague the Gustavus women's basketball team in a 57-50 loss to St. Thomas on Saturday afternoon in St. Peter. The Golden Gusties were held to 23% from the field in the second half on 7-30 shooting on their way to the lowest point total of the season. St. Thomas committed 23 turnovers in the contest, but out-rebounded Gustavus 46-30.

Tyler Kaus Hits Layup With :01 On Clock To Help Men’s Basketball Team Defeat St. Thomas 59-58

Tyler Kaus hit a running layup with :01 left to help Gustavus rally from a 15-point second half deficit and defeat St. Thomas 59-58 at Gus Young Court in St. Peter, Minn. The Gusties used an 18-0 run over a seven minute stretch in the second half to rally from a 13-point deficit (48-35 at 12:27) to a five-point lead (53-48 at 5:52). Tyler Kaus led the comeback with eight points including two long three-point baskets.

Men’s Hockey Breaks Out of Scoring Slump With 8-3 Win at St. Scholastica, Welch Scores Hat Trick

The Gustavus men's hockey team broke out of its three game scoring slump by exploding for eight goals in a convincing 8-3 win over Saint Scholastica in Duluth on Friday night. The Gusties led 2-1 after the first period, but a four-goal second period broke the game open and the squad cruised to an 8-3 win. Joe Welch recorded his first career hat trick to lead Gustavus.

Women’s Hockey Extends Winning Streak To Ten Games With 6-0 Win Over St. Olaf

The Gustavus women's hockey team extended its current winning streak to 10 games with a 6-0 win over St. Olaf on Friday night at Don Roberts Ice Rink in St. Peter. The Golden Gusties also extended their power play goal scoring streak to 11 games with two power play goals, breaking the previous record of 10 games set in 2005-06 season. In a non-conference game against a MIAC opponent, Gustavus improved its overall record to 10-1, as St. Olaf fell to 4-7-0.

2008 Gustavus Women’s Gymnastics Preview

The Gustavus Adolphus College women's gymnastics team enters the 2008 season with optimism as 11 letterwinners return to the squad including national championship qualifiers Laura Hansen and Christine Askham. The Gusties open their season on Saturday, January 12 with a dual meet at the University of Wisconsin — Whitewater.

Men’s Basketball Sees Seven Game Win Streak Come To An End With 69-57 Loss At Concordia

The Gustavus men's basketball team fell to 4-2 in the MIAC with a 69-57 loss at Concordia on Wednesday night. The Cobbers used a 11-0 run early in the second half to build a 43-33 lead with 12:37 left to play. The Gusties would get no closer than eight points the rest of the game. Trevor Wittwer led Gustavus in scoring with 13 points.
