Gustavus Adolphus College junior forward Jessica Doig (Jr., New Prague, Minn.) has been named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Hockey Player of the Week for the week ending January 14, 2008. Doig posted two goals and one assist over the weekend as the Gusties defeated St. Olaf 6-0 and Saint Mary’s 3-1 in non-conference games.

Doig scored two goals in Friday night’s game against St. Olaf, including the first goal of the game for the Gusties. On Saturday against Saint Mary’, Doig assisted the game-winning goal scored in the second period. Doig also doubled her season point totals from three points to six points over the weekend.

This is the third time this season a member of the Gustavus team has been recognized. The others were Mari Gunderson (Nov. 19) and Laura Vannelli (Dec. 17).

Doig, an undecided major, is the daughter of Tom and Mary Doig of New Prague, Minn. and a 2005 graduate of New Prague High School.

The Gusties, who are currently rated #5 in the USCHO.com Division III poll, are 11-1-0 overall and 6-0-0 in the MIAC. Gustavus will begin a weekend series with Bethel on Friday, January 18 in Blaine at 7 p.m.
