On a beautiful day in La Crosse, Wisc., the Gustavus women’s cross country team finished 11th with 295 points at the Tori Neubauer Invitational late Saturday morning. The University of Minnesota finished in first place with 120 points having all top five runners in the top 40. Laura Edlund (Forest Lake, Minn.) crossed the finish line first for the Golden Gusties in 16th-place with a time of 22:52. Edlund has been the fastest Gustavus finisher in every race this season.

Sarah Bernhardson (Eden Prairie, Minn.) continued to improve her results after suffering an early season injury by finishing in 23:02, earning 20th-place. Megan Lundgren (Mankato, Minn.) was the only other Gustavus runner to finish in the top 50 with a time of 23:39 for 48th-place. Kate Reins (Osseo, Minn.) and Sarah Willis (Willmar, Minn.) were the fourth and fifth runners for the Gusties completing the race in 24:21 for 100th-place and in 24:32 for 111th-place, respectively.

St. Olaf, who finished in sixth place with 181 points, was the only MIAC school to finish higher than Gustavus at the 27-team meet. The Gusties will not compete next weekend as the team prepares for the MIAC Cross Country Championships October 27 at the Como Park Golf Course.
