Women’s Soccer Claims 4-2 Win at Hamline Posted on October 7th, 2007 by

The Gustavus women’s soccer team jumped out to a 4-0 lead and then held on for a 4-2 victory at Hamline on Saturday afternoon. The Gusties were led by Christy Tupy who scored the first and fourth goals. Jenna Iaizzo and Chelsea Craven scored one goal each and Ashley Ohlson picked up the win in the nets for Gustavus.

Tupy scored an unassisted goal in the 28th minute to give Gustavus a 1-0 lead. The Gusties took their 1-0 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Seven minutes into the second half, Chelsea Craven scored with an assist from Ashley Anderson to extend Gustavus’ lead to 2-0.

Iaizzo pushed the lead to 3-0 with a goal at the 63:51 mark and Tupy closed out the Gustie scoring with a goal in the 67th minute. Karen Maus assisted on Iaizzo’s goal and then Iaizzo picked up the assist on Tupy’s goal.

The Pipers made the game interesting with two late goals including one in the 69th minute and the last one in the 82nd minute.

Gustavus out-shot Hamline 25-12 in the contest. Ashley Ohlson played the entire 90 minutes in goal making three saves and allowing both goals.

The Gusties are now 7-5-0 overall and 2-4-0 in the MIAC.
