The Gustavus men’s golf team just missed claiming its second tournament title of the fall finishing one shot behind host UW-Eau Claire at the Blugold Invitational this past weekend. The Gusties posted a team score of 298-298–596, while UW-Eau Claire finished at 294-301–595. Gustavus senior Kyle Rohlfs (Fergus Falls, Minn.) playing as an individual tied for medalist honors with a 36-hole total of 72-72–144. It was the first time that Rohlfs had claimed top honors at a tournament in his collegiate career.
Gustavus was four shots behind the Blugolds after the first day with a team score of 298. Eric Harris (Sr., Eden Prairie, Minn.) led the scoring on day one with an even par round of 71. Jordan Hawkinson (Sr., Lindstrom, Minn.) carded a 73, Ajeetesh Sandhu (Ghandigarth, India) posted a 74, and Mark Stuckey (Sr., St. Peter, Minn.) recorded an 80.
On the second day, Stuckey led the Gusties with a 71, followed by Sandhu with a 73, Hawkinson with a 76, Harris with a 78, and Ricky Copeland (So., Mahtomedi, Minn.) with a 78.
Sandhu posted the top individual score for the team at the tournament as he placed third at 73-74–147. He was followed by Eric Harris at 71-78–149 (tie for 7th), Jordan Hawkinson at 73-76–149 (tie for 7th), Mark Stuckey with a 80-71–151 (tie for 12th) and Rickey Copeland with a 83-78-161 (tie for 36th).
Two players played as individuals at the tournament including Rohlfs and A.J. Olson (So., White Bear Lake, Minn.), who withdrew on the first day and posted an 82 on the second day.
