The Gustavus men’s golf team came up just short in their attempt to win their second consecutive tournament finishing two shots behind host Saint John’s at the Saint John’s Invitational. The Gusties posted a 36-hole total of 314-305–619, while the Johnnies finished first at 315-302–617 and UW-Eau Claire finished second at 309-309–618. Mark Stuckey was the top individual finisher for Gustavus. He posted a 36-hole score of 76-76–152.

Stuckey’s consistent play led the Gustavus Gold squad. Other scores for the Gold unit included Ajeetesh Sandhu finishing 13th at 79-75–154, Eric Harris finishing in a tie for 22nd at 83-76–159, Jordan Hawkinson finishing in a tie for 22nd at 81-78–159, and A.J. Olson also finishing in a tie for 22nd at 78-81–159.

The Gustavus Black team finished sixth with a total of 324-312–636. Kyle Rohlfs led the Black team with a total of 78-75–153. He was followed by Ricky Copeland at 81-78–159 (tie for 22nd), Josh Curb at 79-81–160 (tie for 31st), Robbie Schmidt at 86-79–165 (tie for 55th), and Chris Cole at 89-80–160 (tie for 67th).

The Gusties will take next weekend off before hosting the Twin Cities Classic Sept. 29 through October 1.
