Women’s Soccer Improves to 3-1 With a 4-0 Win Over UW-Stout Posted on September 9th, 2007 by

The Gustavus women’s soccer team bounced back from a disappointing 3-1 loss to UW-Stevens Point on Friday, with a convincing 4-0 win at UW-Stout on Saturday night. The Gusties scored three goals in the first half and then added one more in the final 45 minutes to claim the non-conference win. Four different players scored for Gustavus which improved to 3-1-0 on the season.

The Gusties jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Christy Tupy scored off a pass from Ashley Voigtlander at the 7:51 mark. Seven minutes later, Becca Hagen extended the lead to 2-0 when she converted a penalty kick at the 15:23 mark. Ashley Anderson pushed the Gustavus lead to 3-0 when she scored off a pass from Rachel Iblings at the 31:38 mark.

In the second half, the Gusties maintained their 3-0 lead throughout the final frame and then closed out the scoring when Chelsea Craven found the net at the 70:31 mark.

Ashley Ohlson played the first half in goal for Gustavus, and then Chelsea Bayer came in and played the second half. Ohlson made one save, while Bayer turned away two shots.

The Gusties will open conference play with a match at St. Olaf on Wednesday, September 12 at 4:00 pm in Northfield.
