Gustavus Adolphus College hurdler Tanner Miest (Sr., Willmar, Minn./New London-Spicer) has been named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Track Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 22, 2007. Miest won the 110-meter hurdle title at the Carleton Relays April 21 with a season-best time of 14.84 seconds, eclipsing the NCAA Division III provisional qualifying standard of 14.90 seconds. Miest’s time currently ranks ninth in NCAA Division III.

Miest, a biology major, is the son of Gary and Norma Miest of Willmar and a 2003 graduate of New London-Spicer High School.

Also recognized by the MIAC were Lucas Blodgett of Hamline (men’s field), Heather Schuster of Concordia (women’s track), and Dana Luiken of Hamline (women’s field).

Gustavus will host the Drake Alternative Outdoor Track and Field Meet Saturday, April 28 in St. Peter.
