Hailey Harren, Tanner Miest, Alex Zupan Named Academic All-District V by CoSIDA

Gustavus Adolphus College student-athletes Hailey Harren, Tanner Miest, and Alex Zupan have been named to the 2007 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District V College Division Track & Field/Cross Country Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). All three athletes were named to the first team and advance to the national ballot.

Gustavus Adolphus College seniors Tanner Miest and Janna Castellano each came up short in their bids for national titles Friday at the 2007 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Oshkosh, Wis. Miest failed to qualify for Saturday's 110-meter hurdle final by posting a 13th-place qualifying time of 14.73 seconds, while Castellano took 18th in the women's pole vault.

Tanner Miest Recieves MIAC Honor; Thorkelson Named Women’s Outdoor Coach of the Year

Gustavus Adolphus senior hurdler Tanner Miest (Willmar, Minn./New London-Spicer) and head track and field coach Tom Thorkelson were each honored as the 2007 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Awards were released by the league Friday, May 18. Miest captured the MIAC Men's Outstanding Performance for the second year in a row, while Thorkelson repeated as MIAC Women's Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the Year.

Tanner Miest Named MIAC Men’s Track Athlete of the Week

Gustavus Adolphus College hurdler Tanner Miest (Sr., Willmar, Minn./New London-Spicer) has been named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 22, 2007. Miest won the 110-meter hurdle title at the Carleton Relays with a season-best time of 14.84 seconds. Miest's time currently ranks ninth in NCAA Division III.

Men’s Track and Field Tie for Sixth at Carleton Relays

The Gustavus Adolphus College men's track and field team tied for sixth place in a field of 18 teams at the Carleton Relays Saturday in Northfield. The Gusties tied Hamline with 71 points, while Wisconsin-Eau Claire (118 pts.) edged Saint John's (109.5) and St. Thomas (105). Cole Carlson won the 400-meter dash, while Tanner Miest and Tyler Geyen finished 1-2 in the 110-meter hurdles.

Gustavus Adolphus first-year Lisa Brown captured the national title in the javelin throw Saturday at the 2006 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Benedictine University in Lisle, Ill. Brown's Division III season best toss of 154 feet, 6 inches bettered her own Gustavus record by nearly 18 feet. Ashley Cronen (fifth) and Tanner Miest (eighth) added top-eight finishes in the 800-meter run and the 110-meter hurdles, respectively.

Joyce Finishes Ninth in Steeplechase at NCAA Championships; Miest and Cronen Advance to Saturday Finals

Gustavus Adolphus senior Kourtney Joyce finished ninth in the 3000-meter steeplechase Friday, while junior Tanner Miest and senior Ashley Cronen advanced to Saturday's finals in the 110-meter hurdles and 800-meter run, respectively, at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships being held this weekend at Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois.

Gustavus Adolphus College junior hurdler Tanner Miest has been named Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 9, 2006. At last weekend's Wartburg Select Meet in Waverly, Iowa, Miest posted the best qualifying time in the 110-meter hurdle preliminaries with a mark of 14.98 seconds and bettered that with a NCAA provisional qualifying time of 14.85 seconds to win in the final.
